The track I remixed was A House Divided Against Itself. Its a pretty lively track, so I wasn't sure at first how I was going to make it "downtempo." Since I had been putting it off for so long, I used this weeks Junto project as an excuse to learn how to use Linux MultiMedia Studio (lmms). So the first thing I did was save the track as an Ogg file so I could import it into lmms' Audiofile processor. I added reverb to it and found a bunch of drum sounds I liked and set them to what I thought seemed down tempo. While the beat played I adjusted the start point for the loop in Audiofile and played around with the pitch.
The whole thing got recorded to Audacity. I imported the original track and had the first few seconds fade out so that the orginal track bleeds into my remix. I then did a paul stretch on the remaing track.
I then found a clip from the movie and recorded that in to Audacity and set it to begin when the beat does.
This assignment was super fun, and now I know lmms!!!
