I have a very cheap microphone on my new laptop, which I love for its lofi graininess. It was perfect for this assignment. I'm up late, tending a fire, and the kettles on my stovetop are hissing. I opened the door to the woodstove and hit record. The loud sound you hear toward the end is from a piece of paper igniting.
I then cut the treble, boosted the bass, and added a lot of reverb. I feel like it stick sounds glitch, while cutting some of the edge of the initial recording.
